Alright, so I recently re-watched Green Street Hooligans and I came up with an idea for a decent one-shot or maybe a shot 5 chapter story.

"In the Muggle world, the footy fans have got their firms. Bunch of hard men who kick the shit out of each other for a bit of respect and a bit of pride and maybe even a bit of fun. In the Wizarding World, Quidditch fans have got something a little different."

Challenge: Make Harry/Ron part of a Quidditch "firm" (I leave the term up to the author). Showcase the life of a "real" Quidditch fanatic and how it all works. If you want to just write a quick idea of the way it works, go ahead. However I'm hoping someone does something with a little bit of actual plot.

Now I'm surprised that nobody thought of it before, because Quidditch Hooligans is a really awesome idea with a lot of potential.

It also can be taken in two direction. First where hooligans use the magic and that's interesting. But second is where they don't, and that's one of the reason why other wizards are disgusted by this kind of behavior.

Plot wise, I'd start with Ron introducing Harry to this aspect of his family with even his normally peaceful father involved (remember when Arthur got into a fist fight with Lucius?).

I don't think that Harry is integrated enough into the Wizarding World to be a part of a 'Quidditch firm' off the bat, unless this is going to be set a few years after Hogwarts. I can see one of Ron's older brothers getting Ron involved, and then Harry being invited along to a few meetings, though.

As Harry is somewhat... naive... to the ways of Wizarding Britain, it shouldn't be too difficult to get him to associate with the group, even if just for some people who accept him. Then, Harry's Griffindor tendencies kick in, and he has some fun messing around with fans of other clubs.

Before too long, he's got in too far to easily get out, the firm is pimping his name for publicity, and Ron is revelling in the attention. The firm grows larger, the fights get bloodier (magic or fists, it doesn't really matter. Both, probably.), and the Wizarding community turns against them, and thus Harry. This can be spurred on by the Prophet, as well as fears of Voldemort.

As for timing, I think that either fifth year (ostracised from the Ministry, rising tensions in the community), or sixth year (media on Harry's side, so the group gets publicity, Voldemort definitely back) would be best. Forth year would be good, but I think that the World Cup would probably diffuse local tensions into international ones, but after England crashes out...

Yeah, it's a good idea. I don't know much about footy firms, but I imagine that it wouldnt be too difficult to find things out.

regarding Harry being too naive to understand firms, the story line of Green Street is the introduction of an American into the footy firm life style so it's not original but it could be done.

Quidditch Hooligans are already mild canon material. I believe it was mentioned in one of the books/sidebooks that a riot once broke out between fans of the Holyhead Harpies and fans of Puddlemere United.

    Just build on that.

So I've gone and done some research on English Quidditch league teams. I've got them laid out in alphabetical order with their 1999 league rank, what I think that translates to in terms of team rating and a firm rating that I think is justified based on what info I could find. I added in rivalries based on where the team is located as well as past HP canon information. What do you guys think? If this looks good I might try to have a go at writing this alongside my HPDCMarvel story that I'm working on.
