    Hey...
as the title says, this isn't really a challenge, since I don't care if it gets picked up, it's more a story idea that popped into my head while reading 'The Wizard of Gotham' and won't leave until I write it down.

Basically, it has the same initial premise as Wizard of Gotham, in that Vernon is sent to America to try to convince Wayne to get the drills Wayne Industries uses from Grunnings. Again, Harry is forced to come. Unlike in that story though, the whole family is asked to Wayne manor, and since they can't leave Harry alone, he has to go with.

Bruce sees and recognizes Harry and immediately drops to one knee with something about 'my Lord'. The idea being that Bruce's father was James uncle, and a squib. The Potters, being fine with squibs paid for education and gave a huge inheritance to Bruce's dad when he decided to move to America and change his name. Bruce knows about the wizarding world, and about his real family, but had no idea who had Harry, or why he was never asked to look after him.

Bruce figures things out about the abuse, etc. and basically forces the Dursleys to leave Harry with him (like force would be needed) and takes him under his wing. Not so much a crime-fighting sidekick, as taught to be intelligent, to think things through, taught martial arts and advanced science, etc. but also taught magic and other meta-type things by other superheros and tutors Bruce hires....

I really have no idea where it would go, but I needed to write it out to get it out of my head.... if someone wants to run with it, let me know, so I can read it...

    Thanks!

Could be a decent bunny, but you'd need to explain the name change. Make Bruce's dad and James have a huge falling out. Potter's burned him off the tapestry and removed him from the family and all that. James felt a bit bad for him and gave him the funds to start up Wayne enterprises.

Have Bruce figure it out slowly, not immediately.

As Batman routinely deals with magic, more often than most superheroes, he could know some people to help Harry. Anyone remember the big monster looking fish-guy? Can't remember his name, but he'd work as a tutor. The super-hero "Faith" as well.

Well, I don't know if he has dealt with Etrigan, Jason Blood, and Zatanna in the comics, but in the cartoons he definately has ties with them.

I think it would work out better if Bruce was related to the Potters in his mom's side, as the Wayne's seem to have been in Gotham for a long time and were a major influence there. Thus no need to explain any name change, as they would have married into the Wayne family. Bruce could have learned about the magical side of his family when he went on his world tour learning the skills he learned to become Batman, and maybe looking for some family on the way.

Then again, Bruce does have a thing for troubled orphans, and that would be how Harry would be described to him by the Dursleys. A little detective work would show some of the abusive treatment, followed by a quick adoption and recruitment toward his 'mission.' You could then probably have the whole family thing been found about as well as well as the true fate of Harry's parents, eventually leading him to become the Batman of the wizarding world, with a checkered past toward his adoptive father/mentor ala Nightwing.

You know, for a good Dark!Harry in this one, you could make it a crossover with the Goddamn!Batman. That'll make Harry actually wish to be returned to the Dursleys, but not allowed to be an overbearing, obsessive, abusive psychopath.

hmmm that works, the moms side thing.... I didn't want there to have been a falling out, so that's why I went with the whole put Bruce's dad through school and give him a fortune thing.... but his mom works too... might be better even....

and I sort of forgot a key point ... the whole dropping to one knee and 'my Lord' thing.... I was thinking that while in public, people in the wizarding world don't generally my Lord all the heads of old families, etc. in private the families themselves would still be kind of medieval in that sense, having a Lord of the family who's word was law, etc. and Bruce would have been raised, by his parents, and by class-concious Alfred after them, to follow those customs. In part because in a wizarding family, being the Lord of said family probably gives you some amount of power or control over the other members.
