Melindaleo is a favorite author of mine. Why? Because she writes well. I don't have to wade through horrible grammar and spelling to read her stuff, and her storylines are well-thought out and her characters fleshed out nicely. The Seventh Horcrux is no exception. I actually put off reading this until after the seventh book, because ff authors can be prophetic sometimes in their predictions of canon worlds. 5/5.

 

I agree that this is a bit of an odd fic to choose for a harry/ginny slamfest, if that's what this is supposed to be. It's one of the best Harry/Ginny fics out there. If you changed the ship and removed some of the fluff, it could easily meet DLP's standards for quality fics.

OH FUCK! YOU DIVIDED BY . . .

 

It's... weird. At the time, it was great. It had some good action scenes, and was better than the 7th book while sticking close to canon.

However, the H/G pairing is laid on thick. Like for instance:

That plan changed when Jean-Luc asked Ginny to dance. She nodded brightly and turned around. Looking directly into Harry’s eyes with something he thought looked like a challenge, she allowed the shawl that she’d been wearing to drop from her shoulders.
Harry gulped as his mouth went dry. He felt as if all the air in his lungs had been forced out of him. The neckline of Ginny’s dress suddenly appeared much lower than the modest cut of Gabrielle’s, and Ginny’s bosom looked as if it were barely being contained. Her robes no longer looked as if they had been made for a little girl at all.
Harry’s jaw dropped open, and he wasn’t even been aware of it until Hermione elbowed him sharply in the ribs. Ginny’s eyes sparkled with triumph.
Jean-Luc, of course, handled the situation with much more grace than Harry had managed. He leaned over and whispered something in Ginny’s ear, causing her to blush and look toward her feet. In doing so, she missed the appreciative look the Frenchman cast down her cleavage.
Harry didn’t miss it, however, and jumped to his feet.
Once again, it was Hermione who held him back. "Don’t make a scene, Harry," she hissed.
Harry glared at her. "Did you see where he was looking?" he demanded crossly.
"Yes. The same place you were looking. Honestly, Harry. It’s called a push-up bra," Hermione said, her cheeks turning pink.

Despite this, it definitely was better than Book 7. This is the only part where the H/G is that bad in the entire fic.

 

I distinctly remember a Wimpy!Harry characterisation. Hate that shit.

I should probably give this another chance though, I sometimes don't get into fics until on second try. Oedipus Flower is a perfect example of this. But I'm not very optimistic from the spoilers I've heard, Redeemed!Draco isn't all that easy to digest.

 

I think I liked this back in the day...4/5.

 

Really, this was probably the first fic I read. It was good then, and it is still hands down the best H/G I've read...

 

Strangely enough, It was the first piece of fanfiction I ever read. Was diguised as a leaked DH. Ignorring the heavy fluff, it turned out better than it too.
